Sail the Seas with the National Trust

The National Trust of Trinidad and Tobago in collaboration with the Water Taxi Service, will host another edition of the Western Isles Boat Tour on Wednesday 7th February 2018.  The three-hour expedition gives an intimate view of the islands located off the coast of the north western peninsula of Trinidad. The voyage starts at the port of Port of Spain and traverses the various clusters of islands with Chacachacare as the turning point. Along the journey, historical details of the Five Islands, Diego Islands, Gasparillo Islands and the Bocas Islands will be shared. Some of these details are:
  • The late Prime Minister, Dr Eric Williams was secretly married on Caledonia Island in the 1950’s.
  • Lenegan Island had an isolation hospital during the Indentureship period.
  • Chacachacare Island is the largest of the islands and has several structures which include: a hospital, convent, chapel, doctor’s house and a lighthouse.
